LOVEGYPSIES / WALDINO: Press

Bedazzling! The only thing up Waldino's sleeve here is melodic wizardry that will keep you mesmerized. FEEL THE MAGIC is loaded with Moby-like instrumentals that take the listener on a glistening, magical journey of musical textures and sonic landscapes. Waldino (real name Dr. Walter Liskiewicz) is the founding member of the popular, soulful chill ensemble, Love Gypsies. FEEL THE MAGIC, his third solo release to date, is the very essence of chillout music. From the infectious opening track, "Ooh Yeah" and the radio hit, "Moment To Moment," to the flamenco gypsy lounge track, "Night Fire" and the jazzy, trumpet infused "Cool Nite," this recording whips ambient, electronica and lounge into a frothy concoction of cool. The always-alluring Laura Chandler guests on "Don't Wanna Wait," lending an Everything But The Girl quality to an organic meets techno tune. As the co-producer of FEEL THE MAGIC I can honestly tell you that it is the perfect collection of tunes (13 tracks in all) to slip into your iPod or your car stereo and accompany you while move about the earth day or night. ~SANDY SHORE
Uh-oh...Here we go.Isaac Hayes meets Maxwell. And how did this hip thang, complete with chunky guitar and thick with 70's retro sound land on the Smoothjazz.com desk? Not sure. But one thing is sure that when you walk quietly and carry a large playlist like we play on Smoothjazz radio you are surprised what comes across your universe. And we're glad about that...Keeps us fresh. The Love Gypsies consists of Walt Liskiewicz, Jimmy Shellberg and Taryn Hofert of Jackson,Michigan, the Gypsies' Liskiewicz started making his dreams come true when he retired early from the field of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery to create songs which are original and fresh by partnering with producer/ guitarist Jimmy Shelberg, who owns Sonic Landscapes Recording Studio in Jackson.GO WITH THE FLOW is a vocal CD. However, the grooves are contgious and will certainly chase the blues away this winter...The project starts with "Hip Hop Nation", an unbelievably authentic throwback to the 70's musically yet blended with 90"s notions, like scratching. Straight Up has one of the best hooks I have heard-Bar none. Can't really ay enough aboout the production qualities on GO WITH THE FLOW. On the songs "Uh-huh Yeah" and "Vibe of the City", genre jumping is in full swing, these songs are hip and filled with all the chill, trick stuff of today. The love's flowing from the gypsies alright.~Sandy Shore

We discovered these guys nearly two years ago with their debut release, GO WITH THE FLOW. I was so blown away with the bands blend of retro and chill that I requested to participate in this new project. Love Gypsies founders, Walter Liskiewicz and Jimmy Shellberg generously allowed me into their world one song at a time. We communicated via email and Fed Ex for months, until the project was complete. I can tell you first hand that Walt Liskiewicz is a font of creativity... His ideas are limitless. The early retiree (from Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery) mixes music styles and ideas that produce a fresh and original sound. Partnering with another kind of doctor, I call him the doc of groove, Jimmy Shellberg, was another creative move. The Love Gypsies sound is so contagious. One listen and you will hear why I asked to get in the mix. This band has proven to be a favorite among the college crowd, and now we expect that SMOOTH JOURNEY will captivate the Smooth Jazz audience as well. With songs like Slice Of Heaven(sounds like Soul Ballet meets Mindi Abair), the smooth, hopeful track, On & On, the newly edited and spruced up, Straight Up, the jazzy, Magical, the Stan Getz-like sax on the chilled, Rainy Day Mood, and the retrofied, Soul Searchin' will have you hitting replay for a very long time. I am very proud of this duo from Michigan that shares such an important vision of well-crafted, soulful, contemporary music. Feelin' the love! ~Sandy Shore
These guys are not babes in musicland. In 2001, The Love Gypsies released their first CD, The Faces of Love. On this CD, the song Rainy Day was selected to be on the soul/jazz compilation disc, Street and Soul, which was used for radio promotions by the Oasis group. Their good luck with Rainy Day didn’t end there. Rainy Day was also used on a jazz compilation CD to raise funds for breast cancer. Go With the Flow followed The Face of Love, receiving a lot of airplay in the college markets, being played at over 125 major colleges and universities in North America. Go with the Flow went as high as #11 in the top 30 colleges’ countdown in the Toronto market and finished in the top 30 in at least a dozen other colleges and universities.

Smooth Journey is their 2004 release and it’s cool to death. With a little coaxing from the head of smoothjazz.com, Sandy Shore, The Love Gypsies were convinced to make an all jazz CD. Walt brought the jazz to the table and Jimmy took things up a notch by adding his funk/rock background to the mix. (Bam!) What they ended up with is one hell of a disc. Smooth jazzy grooves, hypnotic hooks and a little wa-wa for flavor here and there. They brought it to us.

Various vagabonds round out the musical group of gypsies: Benny Poole (sax), Kevin Bracy (drums), Erin Liskiewicz and Taryn Hofert (vocals). Infectious grooves and potent hooks are at the core of the signature sound of this Michigan based group. Topping charts in college radio, the Gypsies are currently working toward gaining airplay on commercial radio with Smooth Journey. For Walt and Jimmy, it’s all about the music. And, I have it on good authority that CD #4 will be released in the next six to eight weeks.

Jazz, chill, retro grooves and soul has been blended to create a totally exciting new genre of hip instrumental music that’s totally theirs. The Love Gypsies, eclectic in nature and not attached to any one music genre. Are they on your musical radar screen?
Waldino : Get Loose From the creator of the smooth/chill group Love Gypsies, comes GET LOOSE by Waldino. The solo Gypsy pulls all the stops out on this seductive midnight romp of love and luxury. The CD leads off with the rhythmic title anthem that chants the disc’s attitude: “Sometimes you just gotta get loose, y’all.” With that being said, the journey is indeed loose and relaxed… Sultry beats and textures that include a steamy female voice as well as hip saxophone work on selected tracks. The music coming from the mind and soul of Waldino is truly inspired. It’s comprehensive, fresh and colorful.
More yummy new music from the Michigan based Love Gypsies. CAN YOU FEEL IT is the 4th album for the prolific LG founders Walter Liskiewicz and Jimmy Shellberg. Liskiewicz (aka Waldino who has his own solo recording efforts available on LoveGypsies.com) is the group's lyricist, handles vocals, harmonica and synthesizers in addition to composing and producing the LGs project with fellow Gypsy Shellberg. This thing is a scorcher... Hot!! Crisp, clean, grooves with chilled funk, retro jams, cool vocals, jazz riffs... It's all here. The Gypsies are more confident than ever on this latest outing. Taking a slightly different approach on CAN YOU FEEL IT with more vocals, the CD kicks off with an infectious track called "Talkin' Heart To Heart," featuring additional vocals from Tim Ganaway and a feel good rap from Gypsy-recruit Rob Walker. If the right folks get a listen to this track, you'll be hearing it on radio from coast to coast and in a movie or two. The CD glides smoothly from here, stand out tunes for us include the sexy title track, the sultry and uplifting "Desire," the loungey-hip, "Soul Full of Love," the smooth "Fantasy," the groovin' "Time," and the richly textured, "So Much In Love." The vocals are alluring in the mix... Think Simply Red meets Thievery Corporation. A cool fuse for sure! Ambient but soulful. Once again, the production values are superb, something we always note as exceptional from these guys. You'll feel the love with every play! ~SANDY SHORE

WALDINO Thrill of the Chill LoveGypsies.com

A deeply exotic and colorful, musical journey awaits you on Waldino's sophomore solo release THE THRILL OF THE CHILL. The Love Gypsies founder (aka Walter Liskiewicz) apparently never sleeps. As this exciting 13 track project goes to market, a rough draft of the prolific songwriter's third album has recently crossed my desk. Waldino retired early from his specialized field of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery to pursue his passion for music and there's no stopping the good doctor now... Currently practicing in chilled funk, grooves and rhythms. I’ve personally been involved since the ground floor of the Love Gypsies’ beginning and have had the privilege of working hands on with Waldino’s solo releases… He is a visionary, I just help shape things as I hear their true nature. THE THRILL OF THE CHILL is such a cool listening experience, I’m proud to say. Truly a chill experience. The perfect album to lounge to after a long night out or if staying in for the night. The project begins with an alluring acoustic guitar-laced piece called, “Being With You” and continues to vibe along with songs like the erotic, “Exotica,” the evocative, “Come On,” the groove-o-matic, “Illumination,” the intoxicating, “Magic of the Moment,” and the album wraps up, with a “Cosmic Cooldown.” THE THRILL OF THE CHILL is a solid new phase for Waldino… A name that is sure to be synonymous with the chill movement before the decade’s over. It’s a thrill to spin the chill! ~SANDY SHORE
